This note is to alert Strategic Health Authorities and provider organisations
of the change in timescales to the regulation of five aspirant groups
of healthcare scientists, outlined below. In addition, it is important
that employers continue to encourage staff delivering services in these
areas to apply to and remain on the appropriate voluntary registers
in the interests of public protection.
- Department
of Health Statement December 2007
Letter to update members of the register as to the results of the goverment
review and to alert members to the statement by the department of health
(see below). The letter also informed members of the register about two changes in the VRCT
panel and to new finacial costs for joining the register.
- Letter
to all registrants May 2007
Healthcare scientists remain a priority for the introduction of statutory
regulation. However, for the reasons set explained in the statement,
this is now not likely to take place before 2009. In the meantime, it
is important that the infrastructure supporting registration arrangements
remains in place and that practitioners continue to be held on voluntary
registers in the interests of public protection.
- Department
of Health Statement 17 May 2007
Letter explaining the delay in regulation due to a review of regulation
process for the clinical professions following the 'Shipman inquiry'
- Letter
to all registrants September 2006
